Sub Zero Vodka Bar Named Among America’s Best Vodka Bars By USA Today

USA Today has named Sub Zero Vodka Bar one of America’s best bars for vodka lovers. Thirteen bars from around the country were named to the list.

Since 2004, Sub Zero Vodka Bar has been serving up an ever-growing collection of vodkas to its loyal clientele in the always-hip Central West End. The bar, located at 308 N. Euclid Avenue, features more than 700 vodkas from around the world, served straight up and in a huge variety of signature cocktails.

“People sometimes say that vodka isn’t the most exciting spirit, but really it is a blank canvas for creative cocktails,” Gamlin Restaurant Group Proprietor Lucas Gamlin says. “We’re grateful that the people of St. Louis have supported us and been so willing to try new things with us over the years. We believe that the best really is yet to come!”

Jaime Gomez Ortiz To Take Helm of Sub Zero Vodka Bar’s Kitchen

St. Louis May 15, 2014 – Chef De Cuisine Gilberto Espinosa from Gamlin Whiskey House and Kitchen Manager Jaime Gomez Ortiz from Sub Zero Vodka Bar will manage the kitchens for Gamlin Restaurant Group when Ivy Magruder leaves on June 8 to become Executive Chef at the St. Louis Art Museum for Bon Appétit Management Company.

Espinosa has more than 20-years of experience in some of St. Louis’ best kitchens. “He was integral in creating Gamlin Whiskey House’s new spring menu, and we are confident in his leadership abilities in the kitchen,” says Gamlin Restaurant Group Proprietor Lucas Gamlin.

Ortiz has been with the Gamlin Restaurant Group since 2009 at Sub Zero Vodka Bar. He has spent the past 11 years in kitchens throughout St. Louis. “Jaime’s influence in the kitchen is one of the keys to the success of Sub Zero Vodka Bar. His emphasis on teamwork fits in ideally with the Gamlin Restaurant philosophy,” says Gamlin Restaurant Group Proprietor Derek Gamlin.

Chef Vu Hoang will remain in his role as sushi chef at Sub Zero Vodka Bar. Ortiz and Espinosa will also assist with the kitchens for Gamlin Events and Catering and Taha’a Twisted Tiki.

During his eight months with the Gamlin Restaurant Group, Magruder trained, mentored and managed the kitchen staff in preparing Gamlin family recipes and creating new menu items to compliment the restaurants’ extensive cocktail selections.

“Family is the cornerstone of our success, which is why when Ivy told us he had a new opportunity that will allow him to spend more time with his family, while expanding his skills beyond the traditional restaurant environment with an international business, we fully respected his decision,” said Lucas Gamlin. “We will miss him and wish him continued success.”

The leadership of the Gamlin Restaurant Group is currently looking for a new Corporate Executive Chef to manage the restaurant and catering kitchens, expand Gamlin Events and Catering, develop innovative menu options, and help grow the restaurant group.

St. Louis’ Sub Zero Vodka Bar Named Best Vodka Bar By USA Today

USAToday released it’s top 10 vodka bars in America, and Sub Zero Vodka Bar at 308 N. Euclid, St. Louis, MO 63108 in St. Louis’ Central West End ranked number one. The list focused on the the most popular bars and lounges in the U.S. specializing in serving vodkas.

Sub Zero Vodka Bar topped the list by offering the largest selection of vodkas in the country, with more than 700 types, paired with a food menu sushi and gourmet burgers. “We’re excited to see Sub Zero Vodka Bar and St. Louis gaining national recognition for our great bars and restaurants,” says Gamlin Restaurant Group Proprietor Lucas Gamlin.

Sub Zero Vodka Bar Recognized As Neighborhood Business of the Year

St. Louis, Oct. 8, 2013 – Mayor Francis G. Slay and the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC) presented Sub Zero Vodka Bar (308 N. Euclid Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108) with a Neighborhood Business of the Year Award. The award recognizes businesses that enhance the quality of life in each of St. Louis’ 28 wards.

Since opening in 2004, Sub Zero Vodka Bar owners Derek and Lucas Gamlin have been committed to enhancing the Central West End neighborhood. “We are focused on more than bringing business and jobs to the Central West End. We want to be dedicated community partners, and a part of the neighborhood,” says owner Derek Gamlin.

One of the most recent community partnerships is the launch of the Sub Zero Vodka Bar World’s Fair Burger campaign. The Forest Park Forever organization will receive $1 from the sale of each burger, and received the proceeds from the restaurant’s ninth anniversary party in September.

The Neighborhood Business of the Year Award was presented to owners Derek and Lucas Gamlin on Oct. 4, 2013 at the Mayor’s Business Celebration Luncheon at the Renaissance Grand Hotel.

Sub Zero Vodka Bar Expands Presence At Edward Jones Dome

St. Louis Rams fans now have access to hand-crafted cocktails from the bar that brought the largest selection of vodkas in the U.S. to St. Louis.  The new Sub Zero Vodka Bars, on the 300 level at the 50-yard lines of the Edward Jones Dome, will offer a menu of signature St. Louis Rams themed drinks including:

  • 1st Round Draft Pick: ABSOLUT Mandarin vodka on the rocks with a splash of cranberry juice.
  • The Ram: Effen Black Cherry vodka, orange juice, and cranberry juice
  • Hail Mary: Absolut Citron vodka Bloody Mary
  • 50-Yard Line: Shpilka vodka and cranberry juice

Fans can also select their own drinks from a full vodka bar. The bar will be open during all Rams home games and special events throughout the year.

“The Sub Zero Vodka Bar 50-yard Bars will give fans a great selection of premium cocktails in the Edward Jones Dome,” says Lucas Gamlin, owner of Sub Zero Vodka Bar.

The 50-yard bar expands Sub Zero Vodka Bar’s presence at the Edward Jones Dome. Two years ago, they opened the Sub Zero Vodka Bar CLUB inside Georgia Frontiere’s former “Owner’s Suite.” Suite tickets give guests access to an all-inclusive Sub Zero Vodka Bar experience, from drinks to food and atmosphere.
